Healthy food at Junia

Healthy food is important for your child's development. Every day we offer fresh, varied and responsible choices from the Wheel of Five so that your son or daughter can discover the world full of energy. Together we will lay a foundation for healthy eating habits that your child will enjoy for a lifetime.

Healthy food policy

What you learn as a youngster is what you do when you are older, and that also applies to healthy eating habits. We believe it is important to guide children in making healthy choices from an early age. We offer meals and snacks that are not only tasty, but also responsible and nutritious. Think of colourful vegetables, fresh fruit and whole grain products that are packed with energy and important nutrients. We also involve children in eating in a playful way, for example by discovering new flavours together or by learning where food comes from. In this way, we ensure that healthy eating not only becomes a habit, but also a pleasant experience.

Fixed and quiet meal times

Eating together at fixed times gives children peace and structure. At Junia we make it a pleasant and relaxed moment at the table. Our pedagogical staff eat with us, supervise the children during the meal and set a good example. Children choose what and how much they want to eat from our healthy range. We do not impose anything, but we do encourage children to finish their plate and drink well. If we notice that a child structurally eats more or less than you would expect, we discuss this with the parents.

Good to know:

Do you have a toddler who only goes to the toddler group in the morning? Your son or daughter will also have lunch with us. Eating together with peers stimulates development in various areas, such as learning to make their own sandwich (motor skills) and learning to take each other into account during mealtime (norms and values)

Allergies and intolerances

We like to provide a safe and pleasant environment for every child, also when it comes to nutrition. Does your child have special dietary wishes or needs due to allergies, intolerances or a medical indication? Then we like to think along with you and make clear agreements together. We record these agreements in the child's file and, if necessary, in a supplementary placement agreement. If dietary or special food is required, we ask parents to bring this with them and to be alert that it fits within our nutritional policy (based on the Wheel of Five). In this way, we ensure together that everything is arranged properly and safely.

Treats and parties

When your child has a birthday, we celebrate a party. Treats are allowed, but not required. Even without a treat, we ensure a festive moment with all the attention for the birthday child. Do you want to treat something edible? Then we ask you to take our healthy food policy into account. Tip: ask employees for inspiration, they have the best ideas! Also on the website of the Nutrition Center contains healthy examples of festive treats.

Breast and bottle feeding

For very young children, the feeding schedule at home is always the starting point.

Are you breastfeeding? Then you can bring breast milk frozen in a well-sealed bag with your name, pumping date and thawing date. Transport expressed breast milk in a cool bag with cooling elements and always bring some extra milk in case your baby wants to drink more. Good to know: we do not keep stock, so you must bring new milk every day of care.

For bottle-fed children, we offer Hero bottle-feeding as standard for babies up to 12 months. Do you prefer to use a different type of food? Then you can provide this in a milk powder tower, measured in portions and provided with the name and amount of bottle-feeding to be made with the powder.
