Festive opening Junia IKC Veerkracht Amsterdam

Published 5 June 2026

What a great celebration! On Friday, Junia IKC Veerkracht Amsterdam was officially opened. Together with children, parents, the school, childcare staff, and invited guests, we celebrated this special milestone for Junia.

Official opening with Jennifer Louisa, Group Leader ChristenUnie Nieuw-West

The afternoon began with a warm welcome from Nicole de Ridder – 't Hoen, Director of Junia. Afterwards, it was time for the official opening ceremony together with Jennifer Louisa, faction leader and SDC member of the ChristenUnie in Nieuw-West.

The opening party began with a creative activity using story stones, together with the children. With their vivid imaginations, they came up with all kinds of stories.

Together with the school, the children made music on djembés. Slowly, a shared rhythm emerged. Afterwards, the school song was sung with great enthusiasm. Next, those present proceeded to the entrance of the childcare center, after which the ribbon was ceremoniously cut. With cheerful bubbles in the background, Junia Veerkracht Amsterdam was officially opened!

A look at the new branch

After this festive moment, visitors had the opportunity to take a look at the new branch. During the tour, they could view the spaces and experience the pleasant atmosphere of the location.

Work on your language development at home too

Naturally, there was also time to catch up. Over fruit water and healthy snacks, there was pleasant conversation and reflection on a successful opening. In addition, all children received a small bag with story stones to take home. This allows the children to continue working on their language development at home together with their parents in a playful way.

“We want to offer children a warm and safe place where faith, development, and personal attention come together. It is very special to us that we can now do this in Amsterdam as well! We look forward to building, together with families, the school, and the neighborhood, a place where children feel seen and loved.” – Nicole de Ridder – 't Hoen, Director Junia
